The collection of maps in this first version for Colombia is the outcome of the accumulated learning from six collections that have been applied in the MapBiomas Amazon project for monitoring the Amazon region (including its Andean component) and the development of methodological and technological tools that have been adapted to complete the mapping of the entire national territory.

To date, the result achieved is the following collection:

Collection 1.0 – Collection of maps of Colombia, for the period 1985-2022: 20 thematic coverage classes were mapped using the Random Forest classifier, 6 transversal layers were developed (published in November 2023).

Collection 2.0 – Collection of maps of Colombia, for the period 1985-2023: 21 thematic coverage classes were mapped using the Random Forest classifier, 6 transversal layers were developed (published in november 2024).

Collection 3.0 – Collection of maps of Colombia, for the period 1985-2024: 25 thematic coverage classes were mapped using the Random Forest classifier, 6 transversal layers were developed (published in October 2025).

ATTENTION:

The MapBiomas Colombia Collection 2.0 maps are a product that is evolving.
